The laboratory is developing a mentoring policy based on the’mutual support, the sharing experiences and the attention paid to the various stages of the academic pathways.
A number of measures proposed
Support for CNRS competitive examinations
A dedicated committee supports colleagues preparing for CNRS recruitment competitions, following review by the laboratory council. The committee organises peer reviews by laboratory members prior to the council meeting, followed by discussions on applications, feedback and preparation time for the various stages of the application process (written application and interview). Mentoring between new and existing members
New members of the laboratory can be put in touch with more senior colleagues to help them settle in, develop their work, familiarise themselves with how the laboratory operates and its tools, and understand the ecosystem of stakeholders surrounding the CNRS and amU.
Support for MCF recruitment campaigns
Young academics who wish to do so can benefit from discussions and advice to help them prepare for recruitment rounds for senior lecturers, particularly with regard to preparing their written application and for interviews.
Advisors for postdoctoral researchers and associate researchers
Postdoctoral researchers and associate researchers can turn to mentors within the laboratory to help them settle into their scientific and institutional roles and to have a dedicated point of contact.
Through these initiatives, the laboratory highlights the important, yet often unseen, collective work of supporting people, and aims to to promote academic pathways that are more collaborative and responsive to students’ needs at different stages.
