The Regional Labour Institute at Aix-Marseille University is issuing a call for papers for issue 17 of the journal *Chroniques du travail*, which is dedicated to contemporary changes in the world of work – a theme at the heart of much of the research carried out at LEST. Contributions are due by 1 February 2027.
Changes in the world of work — organisational transformations, new forms of employment, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, environmental transitions, demographic shifts, working conditions and new forms of regulation — are now raising questions that call for interdisciplinary perspectives.
For its 17th issue, Work Chronicles proposes the following theme:
«Understanding changes in the world of work: interdisciplinary dialogues on contemporary transformations»
The journal aims to foster dialogue between the humanities and social sciences and other disciplines, notably the natural sciences, ecology, computer science, mathematics, physics, medical sciences, ergology, movement sciences, digital sciences and engineering sciences.
Contributions may be theoretical, empirical or comparative and cover national, European or international aspects.
Three areas for consideration
Proposals may, in particular, fall within one of the three proposed areas, or combine several of them:
1. From the past to the future: how is work changing?
Historical developments, new technologies, artificial intelligence, changes in the labour market, green transitions and new organisational models.
2. The changing nature of work: how should we work in a changing world?
Working conditions, health, workload, organisation, workplace relations, new forms of work and employment, and changes in occupations and work collectives.
3. Managing changes in the world of work: prevention, stakeholders and the power to take action
Risk prevention, new forms of regulation, the role of workplace stakeholders, collective bargaining, collective action and changing power dynamics.
Proposals that prioritise interdisciplinary approaches and the exchange of perspectives between researchers from different disciplines will be particularly appreciated.
A call that directly concerns LEST’s research
Given its theme and its broad scope across numerous disciplines, this call for proposals is directly in line with the research being carried out at LEST on changes in the world of work.
Several members of LEST are also involved in the scientific committee in this issue.
