I am Hajer ALOULOU, PhD in Management Sciences, specialising in management and information systems. I completed my jointly supervised PhD edited by Prof. Claudio VITARI, within the laboratory CERGAM – Aix-Marseille University and under the joint direction of Prof. Zouhour SMAOUI HACHICHA from the laboratory PRISME – University of Sfax, Tunisia. My thesis, entitled «Frugal digitalisation: an exploratory study of the determining factors», was supported on 11 April 2025 within the laboratory CERGAM – Aix-Marseille University.
My research focuses on frugal digitalisation, understood as an approach that draws on information and communication technologies (ICT) in a philosophy of frugality. They are interested in the design and to the implementation of digital solutions, tailored to economic, social and environmental constraints, whilst promoting the best possible use of available resources. This approach forms part of an initiative to sustainability, by exploring how digitalisation can help to to reconcile organisational performance, social responsibility and the conservation of resources, with a view to sustainable development.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to present my work at numerous national and international scientific conferences, notably at the conference organised by the Information and Management Association (AIM), from the Mediterranean Conference on Information Systems (MCIS), from the Pre-International Conference on Information Systems (Pre-ICIS) from the AIM and the conference organised by the Perspectives and Research in Innovation, Strategy and Business Management laboratory (PRISME). In addition, I presented my research at research days organised by the Aix-Marseille Institute for Creativity and Innovation (INCIAM) and the Aix-Marseille School of Economics and Management (MEGA). Attending conferences is also a way of improving the quality of research papers with a view to submitting them to journals recognised by the management science community. Two articles based on my PhD thesis are currently under review in ranked journals FNEGE.
I have also developed a critical approach to reading academic papers, a skill which I put into practice as a member of the review panel for several leading conferences in management sciences. In particular, I have been involved in the assessment of papers for the 16th MCIS in 2024, as well as for the 28th and 29th AIM conferences in 2023 and 2024. In 2022, I also acted as a panellist at the Pre-ICIS of the’AIM.
Since October 2025, I have been Temporary Teaching and Research Assistant (ATER) full-time at the LEST laboratory and I teach at the Faculty of Arts, Arts, Languages and Humanities (ALLSH) – Aix-Marseille University. I teach there from academic research methodology, and an introduction to financial management to first-year students the Applied Foreign Language (LEA) specialisation, as well as an analysis of the company’s performance to second-year students studying the same specialism. I have taught, as a casual worker, lessons in management theories, and an introduction to management to undergraduates studying Business Management (GE) and Economic and Social Administration (AES), as well as a course in work-study placement focused on data processing for students Master’s degree in computer science applied to business management (MIAGE), at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEG) – Aix-Marseille University, during the 2022–2023 and 2023–2024 academic years.
