Following on from the discussions on the scientific priorities of the’CNRS Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences – InSHS, the latter intends to support a research priority dedicated to work in the coming years. This is a broad theme, which enables us to explore the profound changes affecting the forms, conditions and legal framework of work, as well as social relations in the workplace, and which intersects with and informs other fundamental issues such as inequalities, digitalisation, and education and training.

This subject therefore, by definition, calls for interdisciplinary research. It is a central focus of the research priorities of many social sciences and humanities departments. In order to develop this research strategy, it was decided to bring together a « Labour Think Tank (GRT) »bringing together researchers from various disciplines and French research units.".

The organisation and coordination of this GRT’s missions has been entrusted to LEST and will be led by Thierry Berthet, Research Director at the CNRS & Director of the Laboratory of Labour Economics and Sociology in Aix-en-Provence, and Delphine Mercier, Research Director at the CNRS, who is also based at the Laboratory of Labour Economics and Sociology in Aix-en-Provence. This think tank will be responsible for mapping the strengths of the laboratories and their members, identifying priority themes, and devising a strategy to implement these priorities and foster collaboration between laboratories and across disciplines.

The outcome of this work will take the form of a «White Paper on Labour Research».
