Two new titles in the Le Grand Entrepôt series

The collection The Great Warehouse is expanded with two new books devoted to transnational flows between the two shores of the Mediterranean. Through original research, they explore worlds that are often invisible but essential to the functioning of contemporary exchanges.

In Tangier Med. Royal Port. A reclaiming of the city, Michel Peraldi traces the origins of Tanger Med, which in just a few years has become the leading commercial port in the Mediterranean. Beyond the story of a spectacular economic success, the book examines the power networks, investment strategies and dynamics of global capitalism that have accompanied the emergence of this major infrastructure at the heart of the Strait of Gibraltar.

With Morocco at home. Small-scale transport operators on the Euro-Moroccan routes of the diaspora, Rim Affaya takes us along the routes travelled by the car mould, those small transport operators who handle the daily flow of parcels between Morocco and Moroccan communities in Europe. His investigation sheds light on a low-key logistics system, based on relationships of trust, solidarity and diaspora networks.

Although they deal with very different realities, these two books engage in a dialogue centred on the same question: how do the movements of goods, people and objects contribute to the transformation of contemporary territories and societies?

Supported by the ANR project The Great Warehouse, this series combines scientific research, graphic design and outreach to a wide audience. Each volume thus employs original editorial formats designed to make the findings of social science research accessible.
